Nana Dankwa minced no words when he appealed for an 8-year term for President Mills.
He told a large gathering at Drobonso, the capital of the newly inaugurated Sekyere Afram Plains North that he and residents in the area has witnessed the importance of the Better Ghana Agenda.
As if that was not enough, Nana Dwamena promised his personal and that of the peoples’ support to government.
According to him the area under the Better Ghana Agenda has been accorded with a new district, a development which looked impossible.
He then appealed for an 8-year term for President Mills in December elections as it has been the case of his two pre-successors, Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kuffuor.
Nana Dwamena who donated a bull to show his appreciation to President Mills defended his earlier statement, describing them as appreciation.
Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor who represented the President asked residents in the area to compensate NDC-government with votes in the 2012 elections as a sign of appreciation.
According to him, government’s quest to complete an ongoing water project for residents in the area explains the President Mills’ personal pledge to provide water for all.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regional Minister, Animah Wislon has dismissed suggestions government created the new district to win sympathy votes in the area.
She says the move is to deepen decentralization process by bringing governance to all irrespective of one’s social class.
According to her, the National Democratic Congress has since 2012 been a government for those in rural areas, ensuring that their needs are provided.
